No.  You must buy a grave marker from a monument dealer; or if your loved one was a veteran, you may order one from the Veterans Administration. You must also be the grave owner or have permission from the grave owner to place a marker on their grave.  You can locate monument dealers in your area by consulting the Yellow Pages.  Fairmount charges a foundation fee depending on the size of the monument.

Yes.  All of our grave, crypt and niche purchasers receive a deed.

Can I plant flowers or shrubbery on my grave(s)?

No. Fairmount Cemetery only allows fresh cut flowers during grass cutting season on single grave sections.  On holidays, baskets of cut flowers or potted plants are allowed, but are to be removed after one week.  Natural and artificial wreaths and grave blankets are allowed after Thanksgiving and will remain no later than March.  Permanent plantings are allowed only on multiple grave family lots.  These plantings must be such that when mature, they will stay within the lot.

What type of marker can I have placed on my grave(s)?

All grave markers may be bronze or granite and are placed flush with the ground in single grave areas. Fairmount has a few single grave sections that allow upright slant markers.  Grave markers on multiple grave family lots must conform to the guidelines set forth in Fairmount’s Rules and Regulations.  All monuments may be purchased from a monument dealer or arranged through the Veterans Administration for qualifying veterans.

What planting services for graves does Fairmount Cemetery provide?

For single graves, the cemetery provides winter decorations, wreaths and special bouquets for graves.  The winter decorations and wreaths are of natural Spruce and are placed after Thanksgiving and removed by our staff no later than March.  If you are interested, please contact our staff by selecting “CONTACT US” and we will be glad to help you.   Additional services are available for family lots including summer flower plantings and special grass cutting.
