VISITATION
The grounds of Fairmount Cemetery are open for visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 365 days of the year. If you wish to visit Fairmount Memorial Mausoleum, go to the office, as we do not have a full time attendant on duty and we keep the building locked.
The office is open for information weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 am. to 12:30 p.m.
If you would like someone to escort you while you visit, please go to the office and we will try and arrange one for you. We have security personnel on the grounds from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
Suggestions for Personal Security While Visiting Fairmount Cemetery
Fairmount Cemetery has attempted to provide a safe environment for its visitors. Unfortunately, we, with many other cemeteries, have been experiencing an increase in the theft of purses.
Listed below are a few suggestions that will be helpful during your visit.
- Lock your purse in the car out of sight
Most purse snatchings occur when a purse is left on the seat of an unlocked car.
- Be wary
If you see suspicious people, report their presence to security guard or our front office.
- Visit during regular business hours
Upon request Fairmount Cemetery will offer escort service.
Whenever possible, visit during the week (Monday – Friday) when our grounds crew is on the cemetery grounds.
Avoid visiting just before closing time.
Always have someone accompany you.
- Never leave your car running
Even if your vehicle is only a few feet from the visiting gravesite.
Keep car windows rolled up and doors locked.
If you are in your car and are approached by someone you feel could harm you, sound your horn immediately and steadily.
